ANCIENT CONCH SHELL BEADS

At the first glance these huge conch shell beads looks like beads from Nagaland. But they are actually from an ancient site in the eastern part of Pakistan (Punjab). The villagers who found them after the rainy season took off the gold decoration
of the bead displayed above. You can still see change in patina at the end of the bead. The gold was re-melted and the
beads were then sold to a school teacher for less than five dollars.

Some of the earliest beads recorded in history include bone, teeth, ivory and conch shell beads.
