Each of
these large Indus Valley beads are telling a unique story
going at least 3.500 years back in time!
Some of these big beads have acted as 'stand alone' beads or as
central beads accompanied with smaller beads on each side.
Bead holes are great story tellers.
LUIVB
1
has most probably spent most of its
time in archaic soil, while the beautiful jasper eye bead
LUIVB 2
has been
worn for many generations - maybe
as many as 30! On LUIVB
2
one
can see how the bead string through time has shaped the hole in
an almost triangular form.
The mysterious bead LUIVB
4
has a very big hole indicating that
it belongs to the oldest period of the Indus Valley culture.
This bead might be around 4500 years old! Holes tend to
become smaller and smaller as we come closer to our time,
because of the hole making technology and the fact that the bead
strings in the oldest times were much thicker.
