BOHEMIAN AGATE AND SEMI
PRECIOUS STONES
|
The best agate in the Czech
Republic is traditionally sourced from the Cesky raj (Bohemian
Paradise) region, particularly around the town of Nova Paka and
Zeleznice. This area, located in northeastern Bohemia, has been
famous for its colorful banded agates and chalcedony nodules
since the 18th century.
Key characteristics of Czech agates from this region:
Beautiful concentric banding, often in red, orange, brown, and
white hues.
Sometimes contain amethyst or quartz crystal centers.
Known for their fine polishability and artistic use in jewelry
and carvings.
These agates are typically found in volcanic rocks of Permian
age. Today, due to limited mining, most high-quality specimens
are from older collections or occasional surface finds.

This striking 30mm agate slice originates from
the Czech Republic, showcasing fine concentric banding in soft
beige, ivory, and light taupe tones. Its natural form highlights
a creamy quartz core framed by elegant rhythmical layers, with
rich green moss-like inclusions adding a unique organic texture.
The stone is unpolished, offering a raw, earthy aesthetic that
captures the geological story of its formation. Ideal for
collectors, lapidary artists, or historical enthusiasts, this
Czech agate is a fine example of Central European mineral
beauty—rare and regionally distinctive.
